“The Provider Outreach and Access and Collaboration workgroups were combined in August 2016. For updated information, see the Access and Provider Workgroup page.
The Provider Outreach Workgroup is working to identify and share examples of best practices, address provider barriers in adult immunizations (such as business practice challenges), and develop tools and training to improve/enhance providers’ adult immunization practices. This workgroup:
- Serves as a forum for discussion and exchange on key adult immunization issues affecting healthcare providers
- Highlights examples of adult immunization success
- Collaboratively develops fact sheets and resource lists
- Gives provider feedback to CDC and others on adult immunization topics
Inclusion on the workgroup webpage of practices and tools to address barriers to adult immunizations does not signify an endorsement of a particular method. Rather, these examples offer providers a selection of options that may prove helpful in addressing similar challenges within their own clinic setting.
MEETING SCHEDULE
The Provider Education Workgroup meets on the 1st Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. (ET).
Meeting Archive
Note: Workgroup meetings typically involve presentations from both members and non-members. Information included in these presentations offer methods/opinions of the presenter. Inclusion on the workgroup webpage of practices and tools to address barriers to adult immunizations does not signify an endorsement of a particular method. Rather, these examples serve as a springboard for discussions and offer providers a selection of options that may prove helpful in addressing similar challenges within their own clinic setting.

Projects
Ongoing collection of success stories from organizations about what works for increasing adult immunization rates.
The workgroup served as a major partner in the development of a searchable list of adult immunization resources (housed on the Immunization Action Coalition website), which was launched at the Summit meeting in May 2013. The workgroup will continue as a partner to maintain helpful resources on this searchable database. However, inclusion of a resource in the Adult Vaccine Resources Library does not imply endorsement by the NAIIS.
This factsheet highlights disparities in adult immunization rates and offers suggestions about what can be done to address these disparities.
This colorful brochure is targeted to healthcare providers with adult patients to encourage them to onboard and use Immunization Information Systems (IIS). This is a “customizable” brochure into which any state/city health department may insert their own name and logo.

ACPNet: Adult Immunization “Dollars and Sense”
In this video, shared by the American College of Physicians, John O’Neill, Jr, DO, FACP, discusses the financial impact of immunization on the medical practice. Inclusion of this video does not imply endorsement by the Provider Outreach Workgroup or the NAIIS. It is offered here as one example for providers concerned about the potential financial impact of providing adult immunizations within their medical practice.
